Yellow Stone Bowl
Material: Yellow stone
Object Type: Bowl / open vessel
Period: Gandhāran / Kushan Period (tentative)
Date: 1st–3rd century CE
Probable Region: Gandhāra, Northwestern Pakistan
A shallow, rounded bowl carved from yellowish stone, with a broad circular opening, gently curving walls, and a thick, rounded rim. The interior forms a smooth, shallow basin, while the exterior has a simple profile with a subtle raised band below the rim.
The stone has a warm yellow-brown to dark brown surface, with variations in colour, abrasion, and areas of natural weathering. The bowl has a sturdy, compact form and a carefully finished rim, suggesting both practical use and attention to workmanship. Its broad, open interior would have been suitable for holding or serving various materials.
The simple rounded form and stone construction are consistent with utilitarian stone vessels associated with the Gandhāran cultural region.
